A past friend (I guess he’d be a current friend if I’d have kept in touch better) made a post regarding an experiment about Flexible Office Space at Microsoft. Adam Barr is a sharp guy and does a quick but nice analysis.
One thing I’ve always like about Microsoft is that it’s not afraid to try experiments like this. It does sound interesting and ‘high tech’ but at the same time it sounds very scary.
It compartmentalizes people by their tasks giving them limited office space based on what their jobs might be. Some people though like to break boundaries and do exceptional things so what about them. Of course there is the other side of that coin and there are people who break boundaries to be lazy or do bad things too.
Anyway, it will be interesting to see what the results turn out to be.
