Book Review – Night Pleaasures by Sherrilyn Kenyon

This was kind of an interesting twist on the whole romance novel with creatures of the night thing going on.

The premise was that the gods of myth (greek myth) did a whole bunch of things. For instance, a whole group a humans worshiped Apollo but somehow they pissed him off so he cursed them to some sort of half life and only living in the night (hence the vampire legend). To live longer than the half life they had to suck the souls out of humans.

Another god, Artemis, took those who desired extreme vengeance and granted their vengeance but in return took their soul and turned them into dark hunters and they would hunt these soul sucking cursed beings. There were benefits in that they live forever and heal from anything and all sorts of other things.

The story is about Kyrian Hunter, a Dark Hunter, who gets entangled with Amanda Deverauex a human who has turned her back on the fact that she is a super powerful sorceress from a family of such. They instantly have an attraction that can’t be fought or explained. Also, it turns out there is a way for a dark hunter to get their soul back and they will need that later in the story to beat the baddie.

The baddie turns out to be a demi-god hybrid soul sucking baddie that according to the oracles can only be killed by a dark hunter with a soul. The baddie is always one step ahead of them. If it kills Kyrian he will walk the earth as a disembodied spirit cursed to never interact with anyone yet hungering to do so for all eternity.

It’s a very well paced story that has a complete wrap up which so many books leave out these days or do in just a few pages. It was good story.
