Book Review: Sieze the Night by Sherrilyn Kenyon

This is another in the series of Dark Hunter Novel’s.

The premise behind the novels is that long ago the greek god Artemis created Dark Hunters from humans who died wanting vengeance in order to battle Daemons who are a result of the race of Apollites created by Apollo but cursed because they did something bad (killing his human wife/son).

As we’ve learned over the course of the novels, Artemis didn’t create the Dark Hunters for all truistic reasons but rather to trap another god that she loves/lusts after named Asheron. Ash has such strong compassion for humans and Dark Hunters that he has taken it upon himself to protect humans and train Dark Hunters to aid in that effort.

This particular story is a little bit of a twist. The twist was that the Dark Hunter that the story center’s around is hated by all the other characters in the story. Well…except one and that is a of course his love interest. The Dark Hunter is Valerius, a Roman general who was basically tortured by his own father and eventually killed by his own brothers. The woman is Tabitha Devereaux who is a self trained vampire hunter – and quite good at it. As in all the other stories, the connection is immediate though both fight it a bit.

If you have read some of the other stories I’ve reviewed, then you have met both of these characters and some of the others in the story before. I think the book and story stand alone but having read the other books adds extra spice to the story too.

I liked the twist of the hatred of all the other people against Valerius even though they are hating him for the wrong reasons. Of course the bad guy is related to something we’ve seen before too. The resolution is a bit quick but is easy to forgive because of the benefit for the twist.
