Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween!? Have a fun scare!

WordPress Updated to 2.05

I updated my blog software, WordPress, today to the latest version which was just released. From the release notes, it has a few minor features but is mostly a security update so I believe all users and readers won’t see any differences to my blog.

Kathy made me BBQ

It’s in the mid 30′s F and she made me go out and BBQ some dinner.? Gosh, she’s mean.? I did tell her that this is like the last time till March or April though when the temps start back up. I don’t mind a little rain but the cold really is nasty to do [...]

Man it’s cold!

I had to break out some gloves this morning when I walked Xander and Mitchell to school.? There was lots of frost everywhere.? It was foggy too.? Kathy said it wasn’t foggy when she left our area so apparently we are an island of weather. Of course, this is usually my definitive sign to get [...]

Success! Success!

Ok, maybe that’s overstating it but today we had a successful garage sale.? Our neighbor and us combined and held a joint garage sale and it was a success.? Our neighbor’s stuff was the majority of it but we were able to sell our big items and a bunch of our little items.? You can’t [...]

MP3 ID3 Tool – new version

Kathy and I were updating our playlists.? We had bought some new songs so we need to adjust them for that but Kathy wanted to remove some too. In doing that though, I found at that my parallel system of putting tags into the Comment Tag of the actual music file was not working correctly.? [...]

Review of Vista License

I’m know I’m late to this one but here it is anyway. I found this interesting review of the Microsoft license for the new Vista License. Here are Wendy’s seven “features” that cause users pain in the license: Self-limiting software Vanishing functionality through invalidation Removal of media capabilities Problem-solving prohibited Limited mobility One transfer onlyand [...]

Book Review: In The Company Of Ogres by A. Lee Martinez

This book was complex and fun at the same time which seems a bit contradictory, especially for me. The premise of the book is that Ned, an accountant works as an accountant and does a pretty good job of it (especially since his boss eats anyone who doesn’t balance their books).? Ned also has this [...]

Patents on Tax Reduction Strategies a Problem

A post over on Slashdot briefly talks about something that I have never heard about but shows another coruption in the Intellectual Property (copyright, patent) law that exists in our country.? The article is about Patents on Tax Reduction Strategies a Problem. Here is the gist of this particular issue according to this article: EsonLinji [...]

Movie Review: The Island

I’ve seen reviews of the movie The Island and they were not positive.? They tended towards mediocre at best.? It used to be that movies that got reviews like this would be movies that I would have no choice but to stay away from but with the advent of Netflix, I can watch movies that [...]

Xander skating

Last week we went skating (sorry for the delay in getting a picture up here). Here is a shot of Xander skating with his friend Carson. We had a blast! Maybe Mitchell will come next time.

Xander and Mitchell

Xander and Mitchell are both in the Running Club at their school this year (last year it was only Xander). This year they were the first to reach 25 miles and here is a picture of them doing it. Awesome job!

DVD sales drop

A great post at HD Blog about DVD sales drop is worth checking out. I think this bit summarizes it though: A couple of things Hollywood should take note of when creating a DVD.? Take a look at the LOTR (Lord of the Rings) trilogy.? Up front they told consumers there would be two versions.? [...]

Oops, guess you get what you pay for!

I had to go in today and fix a mistake I made while volunteering. It wasn’t a big mistake.? I wasn’t used to the routine and had forgotten to catalog something that needed to be cataloged each week.? I came in today and cataloged it.? No harm, no foul. Hopefully, I can follow instructions better [...]

Book Review: The Lucifer Gospel by Paul Christopher

This is an interesting book that is a bit along the lines of Dan Brown’s religious mystery though this book takes itself much less seriously. Don’t misunderstand me, there is a huge multigenerational conspiracy going on that is being unraveled by the hero Finn Ryan and her partner Virgil Hilts but while they are going [...]
