This was kind of an interesting twist on the many romantic vampire books that I’ve read and reviewed.
The story centers on Ethan, a vampire, who is also the current President of the Vampire Nation and running for re-election.? His campaign manager has urged him to find a woman to marry in order to give his constituents a better image.
The other main character is Alexis who is human and a prosecutor for Las Vegas and a type A personality.? She comes in because her sister Brittany was picked by Ethan as a potential candidate for First Lady and she doesn’t like it.? Ethan really isn’t all that interested in Brittany but the second he sees Alexis, he’s pulled to her in a way he hasn’t been pulled to a woman in all of his 900+ years.
We get to find out lots of interesting details that don’t lead to anywhere in particular such as a murder attempt on Ethan and the characters behind that.? We also learn that Brittany, who is Alexis’s half sister is actually half vampire (males can father children with human females though this is severely frowned upon).? We also learn that there is a banned character that Brittany has a strange attraction to.
The story is fun and engaging though it ends abruptly as if we aren’t done with these characters.? I expect there is more from this author on this story.
