Thanksgiving is a long standing American Holiday.? I think Abraham Lincoln declared it a national holiday and since it’s been around that long it must be an actual tradition.?
I find it a mixed time though heavily weighted in the positive side.?
Thanksgiving gives us a time to be with our family.? Even when our family has craziness’ that we have to deal with it is still a great thing to be with family.? In fact, I wish that I could be with more of my family during this time but it often takes more effort than anyone can reasonably bear.
Thanksgiving gives us a time to contact family and friends too.? If we can’t be with those we care about, then we can at least contact them.? In some way, this may be artificial since we wouldn’t be able to do this but for technology but I’m a technology creature so there it is.
Thanksgiving also is a milestone on the way to other holidays and unfortunately this is actually changing so that this milestone is only in passing.? It used to be that only the earliest folks would get ready for Christmas right after Thanksgiving.? Now everyone does.? The stores get ready for Christmas, weeks and weeks before Thanksgiving.? It has all become about greed.? Sad stuff.
