OK, Xander get’s a DS Lite for his birthday.? It’s a big hit and in fact causes some sibling issues so we decide to get one for Mitchell for Christmas.
Now that we have 2, we try to get the DS Wifi thing to work.? As you can tell from the blog, I’m a pretty sharp cookie when it comes to tech but this Wifi implementation basically sucks.
It turns out they need a wireless access point and can just directly communicate with each other.? 1 bad point.
It turns out they don’t just need a wireless access point but actual connection to the internet. 1 more bad point.
It turns out they don’t support anything but WEP so your wireless access point is less secure than it might be. 1 more bad point.
It turns out that the server that the implementation connects to (why you need internet connect) doesn’t work with every access point and is in fact unreliable with many routers. 1 huge bad point.
I’m a good dad and a decent technologist but this is asking a lot to get something to work for my boys!
