Hey, I got a comment. Yep, my blog got an real comment. Cool.
Well, that was a bit of a problem though because it made me see that my comment pages in all my themes are set up wrong. The problem was that I had the comments happening after a </div> mark. It made everything format wrong and look really bad. I also had the width of the form where you enter in comments wrong so it wouldn’t take up more of the screen width (as appropriate) and make it easier to enter. All of these added up to a big problem.
It took some time to diagnose these problems but only a few minutes to fix. So they are now all fixed so that viewing and entering comments should be much more simple. Thanks for the few patient souls who have entered comments in the past. I did not realize how bad they were.
Update: I’m also trying something new with regards to comments.? In the past, I’ve used Akismet for filtering spam which requires moderating comments.? Instead, I am moving to a “Catcha” model.? This is the model where you see a non machine readable string and have to type it in. ? It will get the comments up faster which I think is cool but still keep ‘bots away (I hope!).
