Tivo has introduced a new Tivo HD (it’s basically a Tivo Series 3 “Lite”).
Here are a few of it’s specs:
- Dual Cable Card support (just like Tivo Series 3)
- Outputs include HDMI, Component video, S-video, Composite video, Optical audio, Analog audio (just like Tivo Series 3)
- Simpler front panel (NOT like Tivo Series 3)
- Different remote (NOT like TIVO Series 3)
- No THX certification (NOT like TIVO Series 3 – though according to Tivo interviews it meets the same audio standards but they didn’t want to go through the cost of certification)
- Storage is 160GB (vs 250GB for Tivo Series 3)
- Cost is $299 (vs $799 for Tivo Series 3)

I’m very excited about this as it allows me to have it in my second room (I’ve been suffering with a very buggy Cable DVR and it sucks!). I can’t wait!!!
