New Photos

Kathy has posted some new photos from my brother Michael’s family and my niece Kirstin’s family visits last week. Check out the Gallery (top of the page tab) and then go to 2007, August. The new pictures start on the second page and go through the fourth page so quite a few pictures. Here is [...]

Work Out

While my brother and his family was here, I took a week off from my regular work out program. It was a good thing as I had a lot of pain and aches that needed the break to heal from. I’m not sure if the pain and aches were just minor injuries or just age [...]

New Videos

I’m officially a video producer and director – pretty cool! Ok, ok, they are only family movies but I finally got off my duff and started making the movies. The first 2 are up in our Gallery (see our Gallery via the tab at the top of the page, then navigate to Videos, then to [...]

iMovie ’08

I’ve been processing movies with the new iMovie ’08. At first, I was having some problems that were pretty bad. I was having some serious skipping issues in the actual clips that I was capturing from tape. It turned out the camera that I was capturing from was causing the issue. It was an older [...]

My Dad’s Birthday Party

We had a great birthday party for my Dad. I’ve mentioned it was coming in a few other posts. You can check out a few other pictures in our Photo Gallery (tabs up top). Here is my Dad and his cake (no there aren’t 70 candles!):

VMWare Fusion or Parallels

I’ve been using the latest variation of Parallels for a while and have been pretty satisfied with it. I’ve read though that VMWare’s Fusion had better performance so I wanted to try it out. I installed it and while it seemed stable and functional I did find some issues that made it unsatisfactory to me. [...]

Graphic Novels

Yesterday, we took my brother and his family to our local aquarium and had a grand old time. The aquarium had just finished a major renovation where they added a new big tank and some smaller exhibits too. It was very nice and the kids had a great time. We also went to Pike’s Place [...]

New (or really OLD) Pictures!

My parents are here with their computer. It had a bunch of pictures which they had scanned and I of course grabbed a bunch of them and posted them. Some of them are amazing. It’s always great to see that one’s parents used to be so skinny at some point. I mean look at my [...]

My brother and his family get here today

We are having a party for my Dad on Tuesday. It was supposed to be a surprise but my family doesn’t know how to keep a secrets. That probably says a lot about who we are as people – hopefully good things, meaning that we are open and honest. Anyway, as part of the party [...]

Additional focus on Guitar

I’ve been focused on learning scales and how they relate to music, chords, tones, majors/3rds/… and other musical elements. The scales we’ve focused on have been Modes (Ionian, Dorian, Phrygian, Lydian, Mixolydian, Aeonian Locrian) and the Pentatonic (major and minor) scales. I still have much to learn here. Specifically application. I’ve asked that we take [...]

Last updates to network…

As a completion freak, I like to make things done. Of course, I get to define “done” so that is of course complication at best though sometimes fun. Anyway, I’ve been updating my home network. I’ve been migrating the wired elements to gigabit and the wireless elements to “N”. On the gigabit front, I needed [...]

Ecto 3 Alpha – blogging software

I’m a huge fan of the blogging software Ecto. It’s a great, intuitive and easy to use program to create blog and entries and manage your blog from your local computer. The folks working on Ecto have released an alpha version which I’m making this entry using. From my observations, the differences are a new [...]

To Retrospect or Not?

I was having a moment this morning while I was working out. All in all it was pretty wierd. I think it was because, having a moment to think while I’m focused on working out and while I have a movie blasting (which I always do) just seems unlikely. That is too many things that [...]

Video Distribution in a Motorhome

My folks are visiting for the month and they stay nearby in their motorhome which is great cause they get their space and we get ours yet we all get plenty of time together. Anyway, last year their motorhome got broken into and they had a bunch of stuff stolen. They had not yet re-connected [...]

Apple’s new iLife ’08 Software

As I’ve mentioned before, I’m a Mac switcher and have been using a Mac predominately for a couple of years. I have two Mac systems I use for two different purposes. My main system is a big, beefy Mac Pro (quad-core system, lots of memory, lots of disc) and my secondary system is an older [...]
