HTTPMail for Leopard – working great!

I was using Daniel’s HTTPMail plugin which allows Apple’s Mail App to send and recieve Hotmail under OS X 10.4. It is a great plugin that I had come to rely on.

When I installed Leopard, OS X 10.5, the previous version stopped working. Daniel, who doesn’t do this app (or the other couple of apps) as a full time job, got to work and over the next week or so got it to work.

I installed it but had one little annoying problem.  In the mail fields (To, CC, Subject), the text would get highlighted after a short, very short, amount of time.  This is a problem for a touch typist because that means that I type over what I’ve already typed.  Not very usable.  It took me several days to figure out that it was some settings in HTTPMail (I’m not exactly sure which one because I was messing with a few them though it was a few settings that had to do with how mail was checked, how it was deleted, and how it was saved or not saved on a server) and once I changed them all was good.
