Call Me

I’m giving Google’s Grand Central a try.  It’s an interesting concept.  It’s principal is that they give you one telephone number to rule all numbers that you might have in your life.  The concept works well for a busy professional who may have a cell, business number and home number and maybe a web site.  For me it works potentially because it may help a coordinated family keep our phones connected where we have multiple cells, and a home phone along with a web site.

Right now, I’ve added a web button to give a try so those who read this blog can leave a voice mail message for me.  It’s an interesting concept in that Grand Central, once you press the button, asks you for your phone number and calls you so that you use your phone to leave the message in my voice mail system and then sends me an email.  That way folks that shouldn’t know my telephone number don’t.  Seems reasonably secure.  We’ll see how it is in practice as Kathy and I play with it before we try it in full deployment.

My big question is after this beta, what are they going to charge for this service?
