Got a Wii for the family!

We actually got a bundle quite a while ago because it looked like the shortages for Wii’s were still on. We found our bundle at Costco. I made sure it worked when I first got it but then packed it up again and didn’t touch it till the kids unpacked it.

Now it’s hooked up and the kids played it non-stop for 3 days straight. Now they have gone back to a more normal life and are playing with other toys but it was amazing how much they played it. I don’t think they have played anything that much that long EVER.

The graphics are not that impressive, as reported in most reviews. The multiple person game play can be great depending on the game. I haven’t played all of the games with Xander and Mitchell but the two that have stood out are Wii Sports and Mario/Sonic Olympics which have some good multi-person game play. The boys have a Ben-10 game which they say is good for 2 person play and a Spider-man game that they say is great (they’ve only played 2 but it can play 4).

The last great thing is that the Wii just plays with no hassle, Gamecube games. They are not changed or improved but it’s great that you can play all the games that you’ve come to love.

It’s fun to play with the whole family. The boys are having a joint sleepover tonight with 2 other boys so it should get quite the workout tonight. Overall, I think this was a good step up from the Gamecube.

UPDATE: Another amazing thing that we’ve seen is that our youngest family member seems to be best at many of the sports games (I mean Mitchell!).  This also seems to be pretty normal across the board – go check out other blog posts on this subject.  Kathy played baseball with Mitchell and in the first inning the game ended with “Mercy” rules because Mitchell was beating her so bad.  You should see him bowl too.
