I haven’t talked about politics in quite a while. This Presidential race has been quite interesting for even the most casual political watcher.
First you have Hillary Clinton who started the race as the nearly pre-ordained candidate but who has lost all momentum. I think it is not because she wouldn’t make a good President – she probably would. I think the problem is that we are now looking for a good President which means someone who can lead the country AND ALSO we are looking for an inspirational President which means someone who can tell us things that might be painful to hear but we need to hear; tell us things that will heal us from things that have been hurting us (the war on terror, Iraq), find ways to get all of us to work together in positive ways. Hillary can lead but I think her technique is aggressive and hardly cooperative.
Barak seems to be finding a way to show the country a more positive way. Yes, he has limited executive experience but, in truth so does Hillary (and so does John McCain). He seems to have some good ideas and seems to be willing to listen to others. He wants to approach the Presidency in a positive and constructive way.
Watching the debate tonight you see 2 leaders both capable of leader our country. You see 2 leaders that have so much in common. You see 2 leaders that really have very little to differentiate. What differentiates them is their style.
What style do you want in your President?
